- There are a lot of aspects involved when creating a website development service. The first thing you need to consider is how much money this endeavor will cost you. You cannot start a business if you do not have the money to get the tools and resources you need. The second thing you need to consider is the use of a web server. If you are going to host a website from the home you need access to a webserver. There are some webservers that you can access online, but some of them have fees attached. If you don't prefer doing it online you will have to purchase a server from a computer store. But again that will cost you something. Finally you will need to build good contacts. What I mean is that you need to have people who can refer your business to others so it can grow rapidly. I hope you do well with your service. Just keep these things in mind and you will have a business running in no time.
- It doesn't seem likely you know that much about javascript, however, it is possible. I learned HTML and CSS when I was twelve, and have many sites since. An at home Website development service? Freewebs provides better HTML Advanced modes, where you can spazz your site up a bit, for suggestions to that one. Gimp, you should download; Better graphics. You can start by telling everyone about your service, and buying available ads in your local newspaper.
- Before you do anything, please note that you will be a business. And with that come certain responsibilities and liabilities. These days, the barrier to entry to opening a web business is very low so it attracts many people. That being said, to be successful, you should know a few things about business too not just computers. Yes, write some code, get a check would seem to work, but what happens when it stops working. Will you take off school to fix it? What if you cost the customer lost time and money? Can they sue you? Customers are very demanding. That is why I don't consult as much as I used to. When you do something, you become the business. The buck stops with you. I think you first need to do what very few people do, create a business plan. Write down who you want to be your customers. Determine how you will reach them. What you are willing to accept as compensation. What type of contract you will have. How will you handle disagreements (cuz there will be disagreements). Determine how much time you really have to devote to this endeavor and figure out how you will deliver it to your customers. I applaud your efforts to do something with yourself. The web certainly is an easier place to create a new type of "lemonade" stand. Now, as for your website. It is not cross browser compliant. It works differently in FF, Chrome, and IE. You need to work on fixing that. It may be the piczo site library that isn't CBC. Also, I think you need to read up on simple user interface design rules. Blue on black is poor contrast. Yellow on blue, black/blue on white, improve contrast and readability. Good luck.
